Beginning as a simple conversation between local dentist and entrepreneur Dr. David Morris (recognized as the Northern Ontario Business Awards' 2007 Young Entrepreneur of the Year, as well as a 40 Under Forty winner in 2008) and modular industry veteran Keith Denis, Morris Modular Space was created in May 2004.
The successful modular trailer business rapidly flourished, building upon its wealth of knowledge and experience to offer a number of services.
Morris Group of Companies helps service the growing number of exploration efforts
With countless mining projects and companies included on its client list, the group also added the Morris Diamond Drilling business to help service the growing number of exploration efforts.
Another company was added in 2008, when Morris Cover-All was formed after officials picked up the Northern Ontario dealership rights for the Saskatchewan-based Cover-All Building Systems Inc.
The move further expanded the Morris Group's ability to handle the growing demand for more versatile solutions for equipment housing and storage.
The group is now a one-stop shop for modular facilities and temporary storage, providing clients with end-to-end service.
This has led to great flexibility, adaptability and the capacity to react quickly to the changing needs of a company, project or job site. Modifications or additions can be made as one-project phase ends and another begins, staff is added or reduced, and more material or equipment needs protection from the harsh Canadian elements.
Morris Group of Companies' efficiency and quality service meet the variable needs of any number of clients in any number of industries
This interconnectivity between the Morris Group companies also makes for a smooth flow of service with a single point of contact who understands the life of a given project, thereby saving clients the hassle of having to educate and communicate with multiple firms.
As such, an attitude of efficiency and quality service has been bred into the core of the Morris Group as it seeks to meet the variable needs of any number of clients in any number of industries, which has also changed and grown over time.
In its early days, the Morris Group catered primarily to clients in and around Northern Ontario, but increasing interest from businesses further and further a field has helped to spread its reach.
Requests began to spring up from Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Quebec, and the eye of the Alberta oilfields has recently turned its gaze towards this Sudbury firm. Now, with projects underway across the country, it has transformed from a regional provider to one that includes all of Canada as its coverage area.
To help accommodate this consistent growth, the Morris Group features roughly four acres of storage yards spread across three sites in the Sudbury region to house its trucks and trailers, which have also multiplied exponentially alongside the client list.
What began as a fleet of 10 trailers has since exploded into more than 250, a number which continues to rise with demand.
The future remains wide open for the Morris Group of Companies, which continues to set its sights on the horizon.
