Welcome to the Model Town of the North!
Kapuskasing is surrounded by many small communities, therefore we are the centre of services and a natural distribution hub for Northeastern Ontario. Due to its strategic location, halfway between North Bay and Thunder Bay, Kapuskasing is readily accessible and well-positioned to provide and distribute goods throughout Ontario. We are a major supplier of products and services to isolated communities along Hudson Bay and James Bay, as well as northern Quebec.
With its bilingual and skills-based work force and serviced affordable industrial land, Kapuskasing is a place where local companies are expanding and new industry continues to invest. We are a beneficial location, directly on the Trans-Canada highway with rail service east, west and south along with daily scheduled air service.
Led by a progressive Municipal Council, a responsive and forward thinking Municipal Staff, a dedicated Economic Development Corporation, and a welcoming community, Kapuskasing is open for business!
Tourism is an important industry to us and community members strive to infuse culture and adventure into everyday life. We host several festivals and events annually, including the Festival of Lights, the Kapuskasing Lumberjack Heritage Festival and Winter Carnival. Our location also permits locals and visitors to experience a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities such as canoeing, skiiing, fishing, snowmobiling, hunting and skating.
